Dance REVolution’s Fourth Year!!

It’s going to be another awesome year of dance!! Finished choreography for “Turn Down For What” and I’ve started on “Uptown Funk” Hoping that both dances will be ready for performing by the end of the semester. Our performances for the spring season will be St.Baldricks, and the Ice Park, as well as a couple other possibilities. Always a lot of fun!! Jr. Hip Hop classes are Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30 at the dance hall in Pioneer Park, mainly for ages 7-13. Drop in classes are $15 while a ten class punchcard is $120. Older students should look into taking the Beginning Hip Hop class through UAF.
Hope to be dancing with either you or your child soon on the dance floor!

Classes Start This Week!!!

Reminder that Dance REVolution’s Jr. Hip Hop classes start this Wednesday from 4;30-5:30! Class is held at the Pioneer Park Dance Hall and the doors will be open by 4:15 for registration. Students should wear comfortable clothes, jeans are discouraged, clean non-marking shoes (socks are fine), and be ready to move around and have some fun! I have some great new choreography to teach and I am working on some performance opportunities for interested dancers. Looking forward to catching up with all the returning dancers and meeting new ones!! See you this Wednesday!

New Semester, New Location!!

Hope everyone had a great Holiday break!   I’m going all new this new year!  New day, time, location, techniques, and choreography!!  Jr. Hip Hop class is now on Tuesdays 4:45-5:45 and the Adult Hip Hop class is on Tuesdays from 6-7.  Both classes are at the awesome Artisan’s Courtyard!   Parents can now enjoy the attached stores for some shopping or relaxing in the Take 5 Cafe while their dancer is learing a new routine.  I hope to see everyone and some new faces this semester.  Please share with friends!!

Classes are about to Restart!!!!

Hello everybody!!  I hope that you’ve had a fantastic summer, and that your ready for some dancing!   Classes will restart a week after school.  That makes Wednesday the 29th the first Jr. Hip Hop class, which will be at the same time, 4:30-5:30.  Thursday the 30th is the Adults class from 7-8pm.  I’ve got lots of new moves and choreography to teach!!  Doors open at 4:15.   Please remember a clean pair of dance shoes to wear on the dance floor, and kneepads, and a water bottle are a plus.  See you soon!

New Semester and Upcoming Performance

I know it has been awhile since my last post.  Sorry about that, life has just been a bit crazy lately.  This break I had the pleasure to work with Jeremy Knutsen and Jordan Julian in the middle schools of Fairbanks.  They are two wonderful hip-hop teachers and choreographers that came up from L.A to teach workshops at a local studio and teach dance at Tanana and Ryan Middle Schools.

Jordan Julian, Kendell Macomber, Jeremy Knutsen (from L-R)

Working in the schools was fun and tiring!  Every class I did the sit-ups and push ups with them, so by the end of the two weeks I had done over 5,000 sit-ups.  Jeremy and jordan’s styles contrasted each other nicely, and I learned a lot from them.

Good luck Jordan with the ABDC tryouts, and hopefully we will see you back up here for Summer Fine Arts Camp.

On another important note, dance classes have started back up at the dance hall!

Jr’s. Hip Hop class is Wednesday 4:30-5:30

Adults hip hop class is Thursday 7-8:00

I encourage showing up at least ten minutes early!!!

In the Jr class we work on everything from breakdancing, tutting, waving, gliding, to popping, locking, choreography and much more!  My adult class is more choreography orientated.  We do work on specific techniques that apply to the choreography piece we’re doing.  There are many performance opportunities as well.

Speaking of performing, my adult group the Dance Revolution Crew will be performing this Sunday at the Night of World Dance fundraiser for the American Cancer Association.  We are performing a fantastic piece!!  The best yet!  I hope you are able to come out and support some fantastic local talent and its all for a really good cause.  Show is at the Civic Center in Pioneer Park at 1:00!
